As those who follow me on Twitter might have noted, I spent much of a very pleasurable weekend visiting and revisiting parts of the Antonine Wall. First up, a site I last saw more moons ago than I care to remember: the remains of the wall at Watling Lodge. Probably the best preserved part of the wall, the sheer scale of the Antonine Wall is clear. A fortlet that once occupied what is now the garden on Watling Lodge itself is no longer visible.
