A busy week or so, and stories beyond the Varusschlacht for a change.
First up HNA Online has a piece about the exhibition at the Roman camp of Hedemünden, aside from Kalkriese one of the most important sites in Northern Germany. It was occupied possibly as late as AD15-16 and the campaigns of Germanicus. The site's official website has much more including a great selection of photographs.
A NIB in in Short News that the archaeological park at Xanten could be expanded. Everything depends, I guess, on how this year's tourist numbers look. More on the subject in the press release.
I mentioned before the special exhibition on Marcus Caelius, first centurion of the Legion XVIII, who died at Teutoburg and whose gravestone is the only epigraphic evidence we have of the legion. Marcus Caelius - Death in the Battle of Teutoburg Forest is being hosted at Xanten. History Magazin has an article on book that accompanies the exhibition.
Finally more in Welt Online on the excavations at Kalefeld/Nordheim. Doesn't seem to add a vast amount to what we had in April.
Thanks for keeping us up-to-date!
